Nestled beside the Rouge River Valley in Markham, Whittamore’s Farm celebrates autumn ‘Pumpkin style’ with their annual Pumpkinland and Harvest Festival Weekends which run through the end of October. Join the kids in the corn maze or watch as Farmer Frank launches flying pumpkins at his Pumpkin Cannon show.
Other activities for the kids include a two-storey tree fort and slide, chicken show, tractor track, and spider web climb. After your play time, you can shop for your pumpkin, pick up some fresh apples, or taste some of their butter tarts and home baked pies.
Located an hour North of Toronto in Mount Albert, Brook’s Farms hosts a Fall Fun Festival that ends on October 31. Since launching their festival in 1998, the event has grown to include train rides, slides, pig and duck races, straw pyramids and jumps, corn cob blasters, a pumpkin cannon show, a corn maze, bouncing ponies, and a pirate ship.
The farm also offers a market with fresh baked pies, butter tarts, muffins, loaves, preserves, and pizza buns as well as fresh in-season vegetables and fruits. With all the activities the kids are guaranteed to be sleeping in the car on the ride home!
Settled in the rolling countryside hills of beautiful Clarington, just East of Oshawa, Knox Farm Fall Fun runs throughout October. Originally built in 1887, the historic farm is well known for their pumpkins — they’ve grown them for 35 years, in addition to pure-bred Blonde d’Aquitaine beef, Percheron horses, and century old trees. They offer fun for the whole family with wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, scarecrow making, a straw jump, a corn maze, farm animals, pony rides, and a photo station. The farm also serves up Knox Farm Kettlecorn, Geissberger’s Farmhouse Cider, and has a Snack Shack. This ideal family experience is one that you and your family will always remember.
Based in Erin, just south of Orangeville, the Erin Fall Fair is known as Ontario’s preview to the Royal Agricultural Fair. This year’s theme is “From Field to Fork” and is running from October 7th to 10th. It is packed full of activities every day, from farm animal shows to a giant pumpkin weigh-off, horse draws, barrel racing, dog stunt shows, truck pulls, demolition derbies, to music and dancing. There is something for both little and big kids alike.

Occupying the Royal Canadian Riding Academy in East Gwillimbury-Newmarket, the RAM Rodeo Tour Championship returns on October 14th, 15th, and 16th for three action-packed performances. Watch the top eight finalists compete up close in the premier indoor arena. There is an opportunity to meet the cowgirls and cowboys each evening after the competitions. The order of rodeo events is pole bending, junior steer riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, breakaway roping, saddlebronc, ladies barrel racing, junior barrels, team roping, trick riding, and bull riding.
