Looking for a way to stay cool this summer while enjoying the outdoors? The SPLASH Floating Water Festival is a fantastic series of outdoor events celebrating Lake Simcoe and its surrounding regions. Created by the Ontario Water Centre for Innovation, Research, and Learning, the festival is a great source for family-friendly fun that is as entertaining as it is educational. The Ontario Water Centre aims to eventually transform Lake Simcoe into a living laboratory which makes this a perfect opportunity to make the most of the summer while supporting a great cause!
Marking its fourth anniversary, SPLASH has now grown to incorporate a wide variety of events showcasing the natural beauty of Lake Simcoe. The festival kicked off on July 26th with Celebrate Lake Simcoe, an event that included swimming, square dancing, and an exhibition of historic bees and butterflies from the Lake Simcoe area.

On the following weekend, SPLASH will connect the conditions of our woodlands to the health of our water supply with The Fantastic Forest Experience. Participants headed down to the Brown Hill tract of the York Regional Forest in East Gwillimbury for an outdoor showcase of many musical and artistic acts promoting a better understanding of how we relate to our environment.
For any foodies with a taste for local cuisine, Brock’s Big Bite was a must-see (or should we say must-eat!) event. On August 10th, Beaverton’s Simcoe Street was filled with festival attendees for a long lunch complete with musical performances.
The Beach Bash will wrap up the festival on August 16th with a huge party at De La Salle Park in Jackson’s Point. Spend the whole day enjoying great food and music while appreciating the natural beauty of Lake Simcoe.
For a great outdoor experience that will leave you with a better understanding of our environment, the SPLASH Floating Water Festival is your ideal summer getaway!
