Our blog is chock full of great ideas for fun things to see and do in York Durham and Headwaters. We are always adding new content and updating old posts, but sometimes you might stumble upon something from our vault. Whether you are looking for weekly or daily camps for your young artist or sports enthusiast, or some family outdoor adventure or indoor attractions, there is something for everyone during March Break.
 

Bowmanville

Hands on History Camp
For the young history buff and explorer this camp gives kids the opportunity to create a “Heritage Minute” for Clarington, unearth secret artifacts, play “Pioneer Survivor”, and make their own treasure.

Dufferin

March Break Fun – In The Mix Dance Party
Give your child a chance to direct, choreograph and participate in creating a dance music video with the “In the Mix App”.  The videos will be completed on provided iPads, with amazing and unlimited special effects. A polished version of the video is will be available for downloading and sharing within 48 hrs after the party ends.

Durham

March Break Madness
Ontario Power Generation is sponsoring  eight events for March Break throughout the Durham region.  Take a hike in the Claremont Conservation Area, learn about spring water safety through cool science experiments, check out the Kids Safety Village in Whitby, gather your skates and go skating at the South Courtice Arena, go swimming at the Pickering Recreation Centre, head to a day of fun at WindReach Farm, taste some Maple syrup at the Maple Syrup Festival in North Oshawa or embark on a journey of discovery with Let’s Talk Science and the Pickering Library.

Georgina

Cardboard Box Toboggan Races
Head to Georgina for the Cardboard Toboggan Races and compete for the fastest sled award, farthest distance travelled award, most creative sled award, largest sled award, and the “ROC” bottom award.

Markham

Markham Museum March Break
Markham Library is the place for fun educational programs with their March Break Explorers and Future Engineers Camps. Explorers, ages 4-10, will perform science experiments, take nature walks and learn about archaeology. Future Engineers, ages 6-12, will explore the world of engineering through hands-on projects, problem solving activities and teamwork challenges.

Oshawa

March Break Victorian School Days
This March Break come to school at the Oshawa Museum! Visit us in the Verna Conant Gallery at Guy House to see what a one-room schoolhouse was like at the turn of the 19th century! Kids get to to dress up like a Victorian child, and learn to write on slates. Our schoolmarms and masters will show you how to mind your manners and remind you of the rules for students from 1867.  See photos of Oshawa’s oldest schools, teachers and classes.

The Pickering Library is offering multiple events during March Break.  From family and toddler storytimes and stop motion filmmaking, to Build a Village for Greenie Leprechaun, Looking for Birds, and Puppet Shows, there is something for every age group.

Arts Unleashed Adventure Camp
Imagine celebrating some of the biggest parties from around the World!  That’s exactly what campers will do in this Global Adventure. Where they go is up to them, but wherever they end up it will be party time! An excellent week to develop confidence, creativity, and imagination! Register for one day or the whole week!

LEGOLAND
LEGOLAND offers a day of family fun with two rides, 10 LEGO build & play zones, a 4D cinema and much more! The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is hosting multiple programs for kids and families for March Break. March Break Madness Family Sunday starts on 12th with drop-in art workshops, family storytelling and a theatre performance. The Early Art Explorers 3-Day Mini Camp will introduce your little artist to ARtVenture. Children will explore the gallery and create artworks inspired by nature. March Break Camp is designed to inspire children to try fun, interesting techniques in studio while creating paintings, drawings, prints, and more. Campers will experience The Art of Canada while exploring its landscape, indoors and out.
