A happy chef is an inspired chef and Aaron Moss says he’s in a chef’s paradise. Reveling in the bounty of fresh ingredients, Aaron crafts mouth-watering meals and hosts delicious events at the Nestleton Waters Inn near Port Perry, Ontario.
Where does Chef Aaron get his inspiration? From the vibrant local ingredients available at farmers’ markets, delicatessens, bakeries and more in York Durham Headwaters. When shopping, Aaron’s philosophy is to talk to the experts. “Nobody knows foods better than the farmers themselves,” Aaron says. “Ask them what ingredients to use – and how to use them!
As a chef who takes pride in his community, Aaron is all about getting to know his suppliers. He frequently visits local producers to sample their products. Recently, after becoming entranced with the floral notes in honey from Durham Farm, Aaron built a whole menu around the sweet ingredient. It was a hit with the Inn’s guests. “Events like these show people what is available and how to use it,” says Aaron. “It also lets me give back to the community I love.”
At the Inn, Aaron crafts unforgettable meals for guests, as well as orchestrating fine fare for weddings and corporate events. He takes great pride in working with his clients to bring their dreams to life. “When brides and grooms come in, they have magic in their eyes,” says Aaron. “I can understand why they would choose to be married at the Inn.”
This year, Aaron will be hosting the Inn’s annual corn roast in August as well as a hog roast at the end of September. He’s also hard at work producing a line of jams and chutneys available for purchase at the Inn’s country store.
