The largest gallery in Durham Region, the Robert McLaughlin Gallery (RMG) is a vibrant, engaging public art museum occupying an inspired 36,000 square foot building designed by noted architect Arthur Erickson. Featuring a Permanent Collection of over 4000 works, outdoor public sculpture, and four galleries of diverse and changing exhibitions, the RMG holds a significant collection of Modern and Contemporary Canadian art, and the largest collection of works by Painters Eleven. The RMG also features creative education programs, an eclectic gallery shop, fun monthly music events and more!

Canadian Automotive Museum is a must see for the car enthusiast! Automobile historians and car aficionados will enjoy the Canadian Automotive Museum located in the heart of Oshawa. Canada’s only museum dedicated to the automobile has over 65 cars in a variety of makes and models shine in this authentic 1920s car dealership now turned museum!

The Ontario Regiment RCAC Regimental Museum displays Canada’s largest collection of operational military vehicles, and illustrates the military heritage of Oshawa and surrounding Durham Region dating back to 1866.

Oshawa’s largest sports and entertainment facility, the General Motors Centre has been recognized as Major Facility of the Year in 2014 during Canadian Music Week, ranked #1 in Canada by Venues Today and 79th in the world by Pollstar Magazine. The GM Centre hosts a wide range of events from Oshawa Generals hockey games and Durham Turfdog lacrosse games to concerts and shows such as Elton John, Jason Aldean and Cirque du Soleil!

Based in Durham Region and celebrating nearly 60 seasons, Ontario Philharmonic is one of the most highly respected professional regional orchestras in Canada. Ontario Philharmonic maintains up to seventy-five musicians and performs its main concert programs in UOIT’s Regent Theatre, Oshawa and various venues across Ontario.

Top-rated annual Oshawa festivals include Doors Open Oshawa, AutoFest, Canada Day and the Maple Syrup Festival, as well as the award-winning Fiesta Week and Peony Festival, both named Ontario’s Top 100 Festivals and Events.

As one of the first municipalities in Ontario to be designated a bicycle friendly community by Canada’s Share the Road Cycling Coalition, Oshawa offers nearly 60 kilometres of bike lanes/routes and an extensive trail network comprising of 27 kilometres of paved trails.

The Oshawa Centre is largest and busiest shopping centre in Durham Region and is undergoing a $230 million expansion to become a high-end fashion shopping centre. Slated for completion in the spring of 2016, the completed centre will include 260,000 square feet of new retail space and up to 60 new retail concepts.

Viva Pan Am Oshawa!

The TORONTO 2015 Pan American and Parapan American Games will be the largest multi-sport event ever held in Canada. Athletes will engage in 36 sports across 30-plus venues in 16 municipalities, including the City of Oshawa as the host municipality for boxing and weightlifting events at the Oshawa Sports Centre (General Motors Centre). During 13 days of competition, Oshawa will host thousands of spectators and 245 athletes.
