Headwaters
As you travel the country roads of this vibrant rural region, be aware that you might not be alone. Headwaters is home to many a ghost, and whispered tales of haunted hallways and hedgerows abound. Macabre medical practices and love unrequited are not only the stuff of Hollywood and cinema. They can be found here in Headwaters, and the ghosts that belong to these tales remain amongst us to this day. Come dine at the Greystones Restaurant and Lounge. Enjoy a performance at Theatre Orangeville. Visit the Museum of Dufferin for your fill of haunted tales and spooky stories. But as you do, you might want to check over your shoulder once in a while, and pay attention to the little hairs on the back of your neck. Who knows? One of our historic residents may make an appearance… from beyond the grave. Read More

York
If you’re looking for spooky tales from beyond the grave, look no further than York Region. Our ghosts and hauntings rival any of the tales that you might find dreamed up in fiction. Our resorts, attractions and public buildings may draw hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world, but when the doors are shut at night and the halls are quiet, visitors of another kind remain. Take a tour of Black Creek Pioneer Village, and keep an eye out for the original owners of some of the historic buildings. The Newmarket Old Town Hall may still have some wretched prisoners of the past lurking in dark passageways. Book an overnight stay in room 217 of the Briars Resort and Spa… if you dare. Did you catch a flash of something from the corner of your eye? Don’t be so sure that it was just your imagination. Read More

Durham
With such a rich history of settlers, agriculture and industry, it is no wonder that some of our Durham residents from the past have decided to stay long after they’ve departed from the physical world. The spirits and spectres of Durham Region are well known to locals—and they might just make themselves known to you, too. Visit Jester’s Court Pub and Eatery for hair-raising accounts of paranormal activity experienced by staff and guests. Stop in at the Canadian Automotive Museum for spine-tingling tales, the likes of which have inspired novels written by the great Stephen King. And you’ll never truly be alone at the Pickering Museum Village, for within the walls of the historic homes and buildings… there is always someone watching. Read More
