Reptilia Zoo
Wow, it’s Canada’s largest reptile zoo. Located at 2501 Rutherford Road in Vaughan. This zoo has a collection of reptiles not found in most zoos in Canada, from tiny frogs (like Dendro the Poison Dart Frog) to large crocodiles (meet Induna the 1000 pound Nile crocodilia). It is the ultimate indoor Lego playground with interactive attractions for kids of all ages and we are fortunate to have this attraction in our area.
Boyd Conservation Park
8739 Islington Ave, Vaughan. This pet friendly conservation area offers 17 sites for picnics, BBQ’s and numerous hiking trails along the headwaters of the Don and Humber Rivers. Bring your family and experience “nature in the city”.
Kortright Centre for Conservation
Located just 10 minutes north of Toronto at 9550 Pine Valley Drive, there are 325 hectares of woodlands to ramble in. They boast of the most leading-edge sustainable educational programs in Canada. Get one with nature in this beautiful and natural setting.
Old Fire Hall Confectionery in Kleinberg
Kids + candy, what else could one ask for. These guys have been making sweet treats since 2009. Be it ice-cream, Belgian chocolate, truffles or macarons, the Master Chocolatiers are seen busily making delectable treats. Everyone in the family will enjoy a visit to this sweet tooth sensation. They boast using locally sourced ingredients. Put this stop on your summer bucket list. You can find them at 10449 Islington Avenue in Kleinburg.
Black Creek Pioneer Village
Take a trip back to the “olden days” and connect these experiences to modern day life. This is a delightful and authentically recreated village from the 1860’s where the educators are in period costumes. You can immerse yourself and your family in local heritage and history. They have restored and created numerous buildings, where they host demonstrations of trades and crafts. Kids can meet and feed heritage breed animals, and the heritage gardens await your visit. This educational and fun setting has numerous artifacts and offers interactive displays. They also host monthly events making this an attraction not to be missed.
