Canadian summers are all about soaking up the sun and getting out on the water. There’s something so magical about being out in a lake or river, seeing the light sparkle and dance on the water and savouring the peace and quiet of our natural surroundings.

Sibbald Point Provincial Park

In York Durham Headwaters (YDH), we’ve got Lake Simcoe and Lake Ontario – as well as many smaller bodies of water – to keep us cool in the summer. If you’re craving aquatic adventures, YDH is the place to be. Read on for our favourite spots to spend the fishing, try stand-up paddleboarding and tackle thrilling watersports.

With two fishing ponds nestled in a park-like setting, this is the ideal place to enjoy a day outdoors with the family. When you’re finished, your catch of the day is cleaned and packed on ice for the trip home!

Slip away for the day and experience the tranquility of fishing in nature. Bring a picnic and fish rainbow trout in the park’s peaceful ponds. For a change of pace, take a hike along the trails that wind along the Niagara Escarpment and Oak Ridges Moraine.
