Art on The Trail

Whoooooooooah! Winter Lock Down Alert!

At YDH, we love visitors, but we also want everyone to enjoy winter safely during COVID-19. During lockdown, it's important you and your family stay close to homewhile taking the opportunity to explore all the wonderful things to do in your own backyard. Don't know what's in your own backyard? Visit ontariotravel.net to re-discover some pretty cool activities all over the province while supporting your local businesses and communities. If you are lucky enough to live in YDH (we are biased), we've got some great ideas for you to hibernate in style, get active outside, learn something new and celebrate this awesome season...virtually or in-person.

Remember safety is a choice you make and we look forward to seeing non-locals again soon.

Please check with all businesses for updated hours of operation, prgogramming, COVID-19 policies, and restrictions.

A little dose of exercise, fresh air and nature makes any day great! Escape to the Trail Capital of Canada to embark on an outdoor trail adventure.  Enjoy a leisurely hike through the Countryside Preserve where you can enjoy the winter birds and icy pond life along the way.  Look for the nature paintings, interpretive ecology displays and explore over nine kilometres of trails.  There are also three kids’ loops mapped out to guide your journey, these loops were inspired by the frogs, butterflies and birds that inhabit the Preserve.

After you have worked up an appetite on the trails, !  Head downtown to enjoy lunch under an umbrella at one of Uxbridge’s local eateries. The Urban PantryTIN Restaurant, and Wixan’s Bridge are family friendly spots open all day for takeout.

Before you head home, grab a memento to take with you.  Uxbridge’s downtown shops offer online shopping and curbside pickup a great selection of local products!  Pick-up your favourite winter read at Blue Heron Books, indulge in an Uxbridge-made Desbarres chocolate bar at the Passionate Cook’s Essentials, or take home some locally-grown Foggy River tea from The Bridge Social to brew up for.
