Spring is in the air, and after a long chilly winter, people are eager to get outside and explore all the great things to do in YDH. During this difficult time, it's important you and your family stay close to home while taking the opportunity to explore all the wonderful things to do in your own backyard. Don't know what's in your own backyard? Visit to re-discover some pretty cool activities all over the province while supporting your local businesses and communities. If you are lucky enough to live in YDH (we are biased), we've got some great ideas for you to get active outside, explore your inner artist, learn something new and celebrate this awesome season...virtually or in-person.

Remember safety is a choice you make and we look forward to seeing all visitors again soon.

Please check with all businesses for updated hours of operation, programming, COVID-19 policies, and restrictions.

The last year has been no picnic… and we intend to celebrate summer ‘like it’s…2021!

Go the distance, hit the open road, but don’t take the time to prepare anything! That’s right… just grab a blanket, basket, and your summer playlist! We’re going on picnic road trip!

Authentic to the Core, Slab Town Cider, sets the mood for our picnic with a
Pineapple Mimosa cider; unfiltered and hard! Take time to enjoy the orchard. There’s lots of handheld eats from their kitchen, too.

What’s a road trip without car snacks? We’re keepin’ it clean with a stop at the brand new ‘FIG kitchen and market’. We’re craving banana brownies, coconut love, and house made smores cookies.

Off to the roadside farm at Villa Vida Loca farm market where chef has his sticky Cowboy Cauldron smokin’. Take a seat at the picnic table!

Enjoy the country scenery on route to Willowtree Farm. We’re excited to to try the homemade strawberry salsa, pickled asparagus, and maybe even pick some berries ourselves!

Park the car, and foot tour boutique Port Perry where the Port Cheese Co. has a ‘picnic pack’ or ‘charcuterie board’ to-go. Bring your blanket to enjoy ‘Reflection Park’ taking in the view of Lake Scugog.

Stretch out on the blanket and watch the setting sun after a quick drop into Louie’s Cafe (right on Water Street). We recommend the ice-cream piled high on fresh Belgium waffles and a warm coffee for sip on your drive home!

Happy Summer!
