Merry and Bright

A 2020 twist for a homespun holiday

With a ‘no-contact Christmas’ twist to our candy canes, we believe it’s more important than EVER to add some handmade-homespun-holiday sha-sha to 2020’s gift giving! Well, we may have found Norman Rockwell’s quintessential, mainstreet, and it’s right here in the Trail Capital of Canada, Uxbridge, Ontario!

The ‘merry’ begins with this charming, historic downtown that is home to many boutique shops and makers that have now adapted this year to online shops! Coordinate your curbside pick-ups and we feel you have all the elements of ‘busy sidewalks dressed in holiday style!’ without… well…. the ‘busy’. Start your ‘pick-up day’ with something wonderful from the neighbourhood organic cafe The Bridge Social . Carefully curated, Canadian authors are celebrated at Blue Heron Books. And, next door, Presents, Presents, Presents has something for everyone on your ‘list’.  A few doors down, The Lemonade Stand -Creative Vintage Studio specializes handmade items, workshops and farmhouse decor to give as gifts or enjoy just refresh your home after a trying year! But save time for the ‘bright’. The locals know that something magical happens when you bring silver bells and stars of wonder into the woods!  Yes, the acres of Elgin Park is transformed to the Uxbridge Fantasy of Lights and the local Optimists Club made it their mission to figure out a way to socially distance with a DRIVE-Thru event. Every evening from Dec. 5th to Jan. 12th volunteers will host you and your bubble (by vehicle) on the merriest and brightest event of the season! “Oh, little town… the hopes and fears of all the years, are met in thee tonight”.
