Our blog is chock full of great ideas for fun things to see and do in York Durham and Headwaters. We are always adding new content and updating old posts, but sometimes you might stumble upon something from our vault. If this article has inspired you to hit the road, be sure to double-check that the featured stops in this post are still welcoming visitors.

The 11,000-acre Ganaraska Forest is beautiful year-round, but especially in the winter. You’ll want to keep coming back to explore the forest after you experience it, but if it’s your first time, you can rent a pair of Nordic skis or snowshoes! Or simply meander through clearly marked trails of pine and hardwood forest.

Winter Hike

If archery is your mark, the sports outfitters at Easthill Outdoors, has archery lanes, skill lessons and an experience in the range that you and your friends won’t forget!

If you’d rather be trekking outside than in, check out Treetop Eco-Adventure Park where you can zip among the trees in a wintery obstacle course, axe throw or experience combat archery all Winter. Bring your friends and camera! Very instagrammable moments from the snowy treetops!

Winter fun

After a day in the snow, warm up from the inside out at Strack’s Smokin’ Grill. Steve Strack has been cooking up cajun style and BBQ goodness for over 30 years, but we found him (nice try keepin’ it a local secret, friends!) and his smoker is in the wee hamlet of Burketon! Get there!

Brimacombe Ski Hill. They’ve got something for everyone. From beginner terrain to black diamonds to terrain parks, you’ll find it all here. Snow covered runs, the sounds of laughter and the thrill of experiencing nature in all its beauty.
