“Spruce Up” Your 2020

2020 needs more Fa La La!

This article is an oldie but a goodie!

Our blog is chock full of great ideas for fun things to see and do in York Durham and Headwaters. We are always adding new content and updating old posts, but sometimes you might stumble upon something from our vault. If this article has inspired you to hit the road, be sure to double-check that the featured stops in this post are still welcoming visitors.

When we think of Decking the Halls, tree trimming brings out the holly jolly, and let’s face it, 2020 needs more Fa La La! The entire family can make a virtual event of this tradition as they decorate their trees. Simply designate a tree decorating time that works for everyone and then decorate the tree (virtually) together.

Spruce up your tree trimming event by coordinating an outdoor meet-up at Spadman’s Tree Farm in Port Perry. Harvest your own, fresh, aromatic tree then warm up at the outdoor, open fire; a great spot for that Instagram shot. Add to the shenanigans by wearing your most festive facemask and layer on an ‘ugly’ (aka 2020) Christmas sweater! Send shopping links to your virtual guest to pre-order their own yummy charcuterie board from Port Cheese Co. for the cheesy conversation that happens later on ZOOM! Lastly, while in town, pick up a seasonal selection from The Old Flame Brewing Co. -we recommend starting with a robust ‘Touque Season -Spiced Lager’ with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves. This will pair perfectly with your cheese board ‘ohhh-Tannenbaum!”.

Okay, so the kids may think the day is about them (!?) so a ‘sugarplum-like’ treat from The Nutty Chocolatier should make them dance ‘like a kid in a candy store’. And for the adults…fresh fudge made with real cream and butter will make the cheeseboard oh so festive!

PSA: Santa socially distances at Willowtree Farm in Port Perry, so use their complete farm market offerings (or online shopping cart), and take home the days main course and bakery treats.

Happy (delicious) memory-making, 2020!
