Summer Fun in Vaughan

School is out and if you’re already dreading those all-too-common “I’m bored” words from your little ones, well, we’re here to help!  If you didn’t already know, the City of Vaughan is home to a number of family-friendly attractions to keep the kids’ boredom at bay. So, hop in the car and get the fun started.

Family Fun mom and SonVaughan’s best-known attraction is Canada’s Wonderland, Canada’s premier amusement park, and now home to the world’s fastest, tallest and longest diver roller coaster – the Yukon Striker!  With a 90 degree drop and speeds of up to 130km/h, Yukon Striker, will be on every teenager’s bucket list, with the likes of Leviathan and Behemoth. For the junior thrill seekers, head to Kidzville and test their limits on smaller favorites, like the Ghoster Coaster or Silver Streak.  KidZville and Planet Snoopy feature over 25 children’s attractions that will keep their excitement going all-day. Also, within the park, is Splash Works*, their 20-acre premier waterpark, where you can spend the day just lounging around on either the lazy river or by the wave pool, or plunging down the waterslides. Whatever you choose, a fun-filled day will be had by all!

Next, slow things down a bit with a visit to LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, the ultimate indoor LEGO playground, or head to Reptilia Vaughan, one of Canada’s largest indoor reptile facilities.   Refuel with a stop at  Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre at one of their many dining options, from the variety at the food court to a number of sit down restaurant options. Top it off with a heavenly ice-cream at Sweet Jesus or a hand-rolled charcoal cone, with asian-inspired flavours at iHalo Krunch!

ReptiliaNow if you still need more options, consider an overnight stay in Vaughan at the Hilton Garden Inn Toronto/Vaughan. This family-friendly hotel includes an indoor swimming pool, with a 2-storey waterslide, for hours of fun, and when hunger strikes, children’s dining menus are also provided.  Just down the road from the hotel is Dave and Busters, yet another option for some good old-fashion family arcade fun! Choose their ‘Eat and Play’ combo, for the ultimate combination of food and fun, with hundreds of new and classic arcade games, in their Million Dollar Midway. Or enjoy a game of miniature golf in the dark – glow-in-the-dark, that it – at the nearby Putting Edge Vaughan.
