Small Town Christmas Shopping in Headwaters

‘Tis the season of Christmas villages, Santa Claus Parades, and decorating the tree. A time for eggnog, ugly sweaters, and office parties. Unfortunately, it can also be the season of busy parking lots, crowded stores, and stress-filled last minute shopping. Thankfully, York Durham Headwaters is filled with shopping destinations known for their unique selection of gifts for Christmas. So avoid the busyness of the season and choose a stress-free, destination shopping experience. Here are seven Christmas shopping destinations in Headwaters where you can find the perfect gift while taking in the beautiful rolling hills and tranquil rivers of the region

Farmhouse Pottery, Gallery, and Cafe

For a relaxing and inspiring Christmas shopping experience, stop by Farmhouse Pottery & Cafe. Find relaxation in a multitude of forms, from the beautiful countryside, the stunning log cabin or a warm coffee paired with the view from the cafe. The inspiration comes from the remarkable works of art created by the potter, Allan Pace. Located on the Hockley Road, just outside of Orangeville, the studio gallery is nestled on the banks of the Nottawasaga River. This log construction studio provides a beautiful setting for Al’s pottery. The studio and cafe offer a respite from the busy world during Christmastime; plus, you are sure to find a one-of-a-kind present this Holiday season.

Rosemont General Store

Rosemont General Store dubs themselves “one of a kind, not a link in a chain,” which means that you are bound to find something exceptional to put under the tree! Located off Highway 89 in Mulmur, Rosemont General Store carries an array of specialty foods, housewares, and products for you and your home. You are guaranteed to find some pretty memorable gifts, including euro scrubbies, charcuterie boards, Stinson bowls, honey candles, handmade soap, and much more! If you are feeling peckish on your shopping travels, their kitchen serves breakfast and lunch daily, and dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.

The Olde Stanton Store

Take a drive to Mulmur and visit The Olde Stanton Store. By blending modern style with rustic charm, they redefine the idea of country home décor and gift giving. Since opening in 1980, The Olde Stanton Store has established itself as a destination shopping experience. Whether you are looking for a gift or shopping for yourself, The Olde Stanton Store offers an extensive product range, including unique botanical arrangements, furniture, garden products, candles, prints, home spa products, jewellery, gourmet food, retro candy, cards, huggable toys, glass and lots more! Alton Mill Arts Centre

Located in Caledon, the historic Alton Mill Arts Centre is an hour northwest of downtown Toronto. This national award-winning heritage building has been called “a jewel in the crown of the GTA arts scene.” The Alton Mill Arts Centre is home to 25 studio artists, galleries, a heritage museum, café and unique shops that are a pleasure to explore. Discover painters, printmakers and photographers, jewelers, glass & textile artists, fair trade gifts, and galleries featuring contemporary Canadian and international art in an idyllic waterside setting. Mansfield Ski Club

Maybe you want to give an experience this Christmas? Spend time with your family and provide them with a membership or passes to the Mansfield Ski Club. It’s a friendly, family ski club with loads of ski, snowboard, and social activities. Public skiing is available Wednesday through Friday with all other days limited to members only. Located only one hour north of Toronto, in the beautiful Mulmur Hills, it is a fantastic way to give you and your family a refreshing break from the pressures of everyday life. The club is open to the public over the Christmas holidays except for the last weekend. Mansfield is a skier’s heaven, with magnificent views, uncrowded slopes, and a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Elliott Tree Farm

We have toured many shopping destinations for unforgettable Christmas presents and we’re missing just one thing: a place to put them. Elliott Tree Farm offers the full Christmas tree experience. Spend the day enjoying their nature trails and visiting an 1850 Settler’s Cabin and Heritage Barn. Warm yourself with a hot cup of cider while you and the family select and harvest your own Christmas Tree or choose from one of their pre-harvested Christmas Trees. It could be the start (or continuation) of a fantastic family tradition!

Headwaters is the perfect place to celebrate the season. As the hills alight with Christmas sparkle and the festivities and parades begin, be sure to venture off the beaten path and find a timeless Christmas gift in all corners of the region.
