We are Dufferin Foraged Inks. We harvest and produce inks with foraged biological materials (ex. plants, nuts & berries) from Dufferin County. With backgrounds in Wellness & Education, our goal is to find different ways for people to unwind and connect with nature. While we sell our inks, ornaments and hand-painted cards, we also run workshops where we guide curious participants to explore and unleash their creativity using beautiful colours deriving directly from nature.
Our workshops intend to open up new ideas and rekindle past interests that we may have put aside while pursuing daily obligations and commitments. Foraging links to natural health remedies, trying new recipes, all types of art and expression and connecting to the ancestors who lived much closer to the earth and depended on local resources.
A little more about us:
Darlene Hostrawser grew up on a farm in Dufferin County and began her training as a textile artist at the Sheridan School of Craft and Design, followed by an apprenticeship with Edna Blackburn in Caledon. She set up an in-home studio and participated in shows and sales of her work around Ontario. She also had a career in the field of Mental Health. Designing and delivering creative programs for those who seek relief from anxiety and depression was an important role in assisting individuals with improving health and wellness.
Fabienne Good is an artist/designer/maker/educator who also grew up on a farm in Dufferin County and followed her passion of art & design through OCAD University in Toronto. She then moved to Europe to complete a Masters in Fine Arts with a joint major in Education and Public Art. Fabienne has spent over 15 years living & working abroad primarily teaching art & design in Europe, Asia, Australia and South America. She has always enjoyed immersing herself into new cultures, settings and situations. She works in a variety of media, is inspired by nature and is passionate about sharing the importance of creativity.
