This Father’s Day trade the socks, tie, or cologne for something more adventurous; give Dad the gift of stories and memories, give Dad the gift of experience. From just around the corner fun to a road trip excursion, York, Durham, and Headwaters are full of unexpected outdoor adventures. Take a break from the everyday and give Dad a gift he won’t soon forget! We already told you about some amazing experiences for Mom, which Dad can do too, but here’s nine adventure experiences for Father’s Day.
Golfing
Father’s day is the perfect time to join Dad on the links and the York, Durham, Headwaters area is the place to do it. From Oshawa to Richmond Hill to Orangeville, and all points in between, we are blessed with a multitude of amazing golf courses. Just look at this list! There are over a hundred courses to choose from. Select from award-winning, PGA-inspired golf courses with panoramic views and challenging slopes featuring hills, ponds and bunkers. Afterward, kick back with Dad in one of the resort clubhouses, enjoy a culinary creation, and reminisce over some “back in my day” golf stories.
Mountain Biking
Give Dad the gift of mountain biking this Father’s day with a membership to the Durham Mountain Biking Association. By giving a membership, you are giving Dad access to a community of mountain bikers who enhance and preserve the amazing trails across Durham and York regions. It’s like you are giving him the gift of mountain biking and giving back to the community. Join them for group mountain bike rides or get out with Dad and do some trail building. It’s a gift that keeps on giving for the whole cycling season, which, if he pulls out the fat tire bike, is year-round!
Hiking
Hiking makes for the perfect day trip with Dad. It is a great way to spend quality time as a family, while also enjoying nature. Boyne Valley Provincial Park gives you access to amazing views and the varied landscape of the Bruce Trail. Located just west of Shelburne, in Mulmur, these trails feature a range of natural communities, hardwood forest, open fields, bottomland, and boardwalked swamp. There are options to make this an hour long hike or extend your time on trails with the 8 to 9 km options on the Boyne Valley Side Trail.
Farming Adventure
For a truly unique gift, give Dad an agritourism adventure at Cadogan Farm Adventures. This 250 acre working horse farm is filled with adventure. Spend the day trail riding, then unwind in the indoor pool and sauna.
